Explore Quito, the capital of Ecuador. The city is surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, yet is only 14 miles south of the Equator.
Itinerary at a Glance:
We start in the morning around 9am visiting several of Quito’s most famous landmarks and structures.
The many magnificent Spanish-Colonial buildings and colorful street life, as well as the Spanish-Baroque Cathedrals are just some of the sites we’ll see.
A walk around Independence Square brings us to the Presidencial Palace and the Arch Bishop’s Palace. We’ll visit a few of the iconic churches like La Compañia, the Monastery and San Francisco.
To get a birds eye view of the city we’ll also visit the Hill of Panecillo where the Virgin of Quito stands tall.
Time permitting, we’ll visit the artisans market for some souvenir shopping and to test your haggling skills for some amazing hand crafted mementos.
