Ecuador, bordered to the north by Colombia,
to the east and south by Peru and to the west by the Pacific
Ocean, is one of South America's smallest countries, it is

General Requirements
Entry requirements:
a valid passport, and for citizens of some countries, such
as France, a visa.
Health:
No vaccinations are required for entry. However, we reccommend
that you check with your physician before departure regarding
high altitude travel, as well as preventive measures for visiting
tropical areas. Bottled water is advised and available everywhere.
Local time:
Eastern Standard Time or GMT-5 on the mainland; no daylight
savings time. In the Galapagos Islands, it is GMT-6.
Money:
The monetary unit is the United States Dollar.
Language:
Spanish and Quichua. English and French are spoken in major
visitor centers.
Electricity:
110 volts, 60 AC.
Climate:
Each region of the country has its own climate. In Quito and
in the highlands, the weather can be cool in the mornings,
and very pleasant in the afternoons, when it can go over 21°C.
The driest months are July through October. During the rest
of the year afternoon showers are to be expected. On the coast
the average temperature is 28°C, with the hot, rainy season
from November to May, and the dry season from June to December.
In the Amazon rain forest the climate is humid and warm. It
rains all year, especially from June to November. However,
at this time the jungle is at its best and the rivers most
navigable. Galapagos Islands: In general, December to June
are the warmest months. January to March can be hot and humid.
July to November are cooler.
